Overhaul of the century!
After 23 years in Michigan I made a drastic decision, packed up my life and my cat, and high-tailed it out to the west coast. I arrived in California, where I live in a one bedroom apartment with two roommates, and two cats with a tentative truce between them. It's a different world out here, the skies always seem to be blue (unless I'm in San Francisco), the weather always just on this side of perfect, and the produce fresher than I could have ever dreamed of in the icy winters in Michigan.
My family's still there, of course. It's not easy...but then again it is. I missed my mom like crazy the first month I was here, and I still have irrational fears about what's going to happen in 5, 10, 15 years. But I kind of have to say c'est la vie.
I currently work as an Administrative Assistant for a company that represents high end plumbing manufacturers, a job which, while not the most exciting, I am eternally thankful to have, as I feel I am just barely qualified for it.
